The Zip
After Barnett Newman, 1948–
A single vertical charge of color dividing a vast field. The smallest inventory of moves in painting, and the hardest to get right. Contemplative up close, commanding across the room.
Original oil paintings · Made to order · Est. 2013
We paint original works in the great post-war idioms: the zip, the color field, the drip. Period-correct oils and techniques, in your palette, at your dimensions. One of one, every time.
A decade spent reverse-engineering post-war technique: the grounds, the pigments, the tools. The surface reads right because the method is right.
You choose the palette and the dimensions. Send a paint chip, a fabric swatch, or a photo of the rug it has to live with. We'll match it.
No prints, no editions, no giclée. Every canvas is painted once, by hand, and shipped to exactly one wall: yours.
The works
Every piece below is a starting point, not a product. The size, the palette, and the proportions are yours to call.
After Barnett Newman, 1948–
A single vertical charge of color dividing a vast field. The smallest inventory of moves in painting, and the hardest to get right. Contemplative up close, commanding across the room.
After Mark Rothko, 1949–
Soft-edged planes of pigment that seem to breathe, shifting with the light across the day. Quiet in a way that takes over a room. The most requested piece for living spaces, for good reason.
After Jackson Pollock, 1947–
Drip, flick, and full-body gesture, locked in oil. Controlled chaos with real depth, built up layer over layer. The loudest thing we make, and the format that loves a wide wall.
The process
Zip, field, or action. Torn between them? Send photos of the room and we'll tell you what we'd hang there.
Dimensions to the inch, palette to the swatch. We send a digital mockup in your space before any paint moves.
Sarina builds the canvas and paints it in period technique. Most works ship within 4–6 weeks of approval.
Stretched and ready to hang, or rolled and crated for oversized work. Insured door to door.
The studio

Yes. Our work is built in three idioms drawn directly from those artists: the color field after Rothko, the zip after Barnett Newman, and the action painting after Pollock. Each is made original to your palette and dimensions, not as a copy of any existing work.

Yes. Send us a paint chip, a Pantone reference, a fabric sample, or photos of the room and we will mix the painting to match. Period-correct oils give us the full range of saturation and warmth that off-the-shelf reproductions cannot.
Yes. Works ship worldwide, insured door to door. Smaller pieces ship stretched and ready to hang; oversized canvases ship rolled and crated for cost-effective international shipping, with hanging instructions included.
Oil paint on stretched canvas, built up using the period-correct techniques Sarina has spent a decade studying. Grounds, pigments, and tools are selected to match the materials each idiom was originally painted with.
